How to Heal Holistically

Holistic Health

At one time or another most people have been afTNicted with some sort of medical condition or illness.  People are often left wondering what to do, how to deal with it and what type of medical attention to seek out.  There are a few rules of thumb to follow:

1.  In an Emergency, always call 911 or go directly to the ER

2.  If there is suspect of a broken bone, trauma or anything life threatening go the ER or call 911

3.  For chronic conditions, seek out the least invasive medical modality FIRST

Chronic illness is usually something that occurs over time, and can have a number of different causes.  Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are very effective for treating chronic illness because it gets to the root of the issue, while treating the body holistically.  During the first Acupuncture visit, the Acupuncturist will assess current and past medical history, looking at all variables to systematically see what issues have contributed to the current circumstances affecting the health of the individual.  Diet and lifestyle is also a very important factor that is weighed in.  In order to be healthy, one must engage in healthy activities.  This includes the following:

1.  Healthy friendships

2.  Healthy relationships

3.  A job that is enjoyable most of the time

4.  Ways to release stress

5.  Exercise

6.  A  good environment where there is happiness and stimulation

7.  Fun and laughter

8.  Good/healthy food

Most people do not realize that in order to be healthy on a holistic level, there are many contributing factors.  If a person is suffering from a disease it is important to see how much stress is present, as stress is a culprit to poor health.  In order to be healthy or restore healthy, you want to rid your life of negative people, places and things.  You should have a job that you like, that brings out your creativity, where you are treated with respect.  If you think this is impossible, it is not.  Healthy friendships and relationships are vital to positive health, as they either bring happiness or stress.  Exercise and healthy eating is crucial because you are what you eat!  Energy in=energy out so therefore you must burn off calories in order to stay fit and have the organs functioning properly.

An Acupuncturist is trained to look at the body in a holistic manner, to get to the root of the issue and prescribe and suggest what is needed to get the body balanced again.  It is possible that an imbalance may require prescription medication but it is also possible that with changes in diet, lifestyle, acupuncture and herbal remedies that one can recover with more natural means.  This all depends on the severity of the issue.  If you are interested in holistic medicine, it is a great option as there are very few side effects.
