Healthy Eating and Balancing Blood Sugar
Many of my patients ask me how to eat healthy and optimize their metabolism for weight loss. While there is no magic bullet for weight loss, acupuncture definitely does help. It helps because it gets your body healthy through proper digestion so energy in equals energy out. This means, you eat food and assimilate what you need and the rest comes out as waste. Acupuncture helps to increase the metabolism so food is being broken down properly and the bowels function properly for elimination so there is no toxic build up. Of course healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle is part of not only weight loss, but looking and feeling your best.
I wanted to share this great recipe for Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps. This is paleo, delicious, healthy and due to the nature of the nutrients that it has, it should curb food cravings and leave you feeling satisfied. This recipe is really easy:
Ingredients:
- Iceburg lettuce
- Boneless skineless chicken breasts
- eggs
- TNour
- breadcrumbs
- tomatoes
- red onion
- ranch or blue cheese dressing
- blue cheese crumbles
- buffalo wing sauce
Start by cutting the chicken into strips. I like to use a meat tenderizer to pound the chicken out. It makes it cook faster and its TNatter and contains more TNavor. Once cut into strips, make 3 bowls for the TNour, eggs and breadcrumbs. Dip each tender into TNour, egg, then breadcrumbs. Fry in olive oil or any other ‘healthy oil’ until golden brown and crispy. Lay out on a paper towel to drain the grease. Take the chicken tenders and cut them into medium size pieces. Toss in a bowl with buffalo wing sauce. Begin layering your wrap by using one piece of iceberg lettuce, add chicken, add chopped tomatoes, chopped red onion, ranch or blue cheese dressing and sprinkle with blue cheese crumbles. Add salt and pepper for taste.
This is a very easy, low cal meal that has both vegetables and protein to sustain your blood sugar over time without weighing you down. This is a great lunch or dinner idea. Have fun with this and enjoy your meal!
